Kelvin Flynn

Executive Chairman

Kelvin Flynn is the Executive Chairman of Harvis, which he founded in 2009.

Kelvin is a highly experienced investment banker, specialising in structured finance, strategic investments, and corporate turnarounds. He has deep expertise in real estate, mining, and agriculture, with a strong foundation in special situations and distressed assets.

Kelvin has a successful track record of lending and investing significant debt and equity capital in distressed and special situations. Prior to that, he acted as an interim manager and adviser to multinational corporations and their stakeholders in complex workouts and restructurings across the Asia Pacific region.

Kelvin’s leadership and financial acumen have been instrumental in driving key successes for the firm’s investment strategies and advisory mandates, including:

  • Establishing Harvis as a specialist merchant bank, focusing on private lending to commercial real estate and providing metals and mining advice and investments.

  • Leading the origination of an urgent $55 million working capital facility for Ausenco, a leading engineering services firm.

  • Providing strategic advice and identifying the transaction pathway for Mineral Resources Limited's acquisition of the Bald Hill Lithium Mine via a complex Deed of Company Arrangement.

  • Structuring Wildcat Resources Ltd's acquisition of the Tabba Tabba lithium project from Global Advanced Metals Pty Ltd.

  • Leading the transaction for Pilbara Minerals Limited's acquisition of Altura Mining Limited’s Pilgangoora lithium mine through a Deed of Company Arrangement restructure and a $230 million equity underwrite.

  • Appointed by global private equity firm Blackstone to lead the turnaround of National Lifestyle Villages (NLV), where he served as Acting CEO in 2017. Kelvin architected the turnaround plan and investment exit strategy, overseeing the business's sale to GIC-backed Serenitas in mid-2018.

Before founding Harvis, Kelvin held senior executive roles at several leading global firms. He was Executive Director / Vice President at Goldman Sachs with the Asian Special Situations Group, managing over US$4 billion in proprietary balance sheet investments. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of Alvarez & Marsal in Asia, advising on performance improvement and business turnarounds. Kelvin also served as Executive Director and Partner at Ferrier Hodgson, Australia’s leading insolvency and restructuring firm, working in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Perth.

Kelvin is currently a non-executive director of ASX-listed Vault Minerals Limited and Labyrinth Resources Limited. He previously held the same role at Mineral Resources Limited (14 years until early 2024), Silver Lake Resources Limited (8.5 years until its merger with Red5 Limited), Atrum Coal Limited, and Global Advanced Metals Pty Ltd (13 years until late 2020).

Kelvin holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) from the University of Western Australia, is a Chartered Accountant, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
